Helda Panagary

Helda Panagary is an independent, London based, crochet designer who designs for the Scheepjes brand and whose work regularly appears in Inside Crochet magazine.

She is disabled but only recently started speaking publicly about how crochet has enabled her to overcome adversity. And, in an industry where disability is underrepresented she is passionate about raising awareness surrounding disability representation and accessibility. 'Crocheting has allowed me to feel and be both heard and seen, and I feel it is important that this is extended further to all disabled designers.'

With a pattern portfolio ranging from earrings and necklaces to cowls, shawls and blankets she is often inspired by her Asian-Afro heritage, nature or her urban landscape. Whatever the inspiration, her uplifting use of colour is instantly recognisable.

Her PDF patterns are available from her pattern store on Ravelry and she writes about what inspires her on her blog Heldasland.
