Marie Segares

Marie Segares is a crochet and hand knit designer, author, tutor and blogger behind the Underground Crafter blog, based in New York, USA.

Marie learned to crochet from her maternal grandmother in 1984 and has been hooked ever since, later conquering her fear of knitting in 2010. She uses the Underground Crafter blog to share her crochet and knitting patterns, sewing and crafts tutorials (even the occasional recipe) and the name celebrates the fact that she crafts on the underground while commuting on New York City's subway system.

Her designs have been published by a number of publications including I Like Crochet, Inside Crochet, KnitCircus, KnitCrate, Pom Pom Quarterly, Red Heart Yarns, Yarnbox and the Quick & Simple Crochet booklet series. She's an ambassador for a number of brands including Baby Lock and King Cole and also a Craft Yarn Council Certified Crochet and Knitting Instructor.

Marie is a prolific creator who produces tutorial videos for both knit and crochet on her YouTube channel, has a vast collection on her Ravelry Pattern Store and founder of #LatinxMakerMonth on Instagram.
