Uma Padmanabhan

Uma Padmanabhan is a hand knit designer, tutor and crafts seller based in the USA.

Having learnt to knit and crochet as a child she practised both for much of her life but only started publishing designs in 2008, crediting her crafting skills to her grandmother, mother and schoolteachers 'for the time they put in to teach me to knit and crochet when I was a little kid'.

Uma's Instagram and Ravelry username k_nitvana blends together 'knit,' that is 'come together', with 'nirvana' and it encompasses her philosophy that this path leads one to peace and happiness. As someone who finds knitting soothing, meditative and therapeutic she hopes, through her work, to share this passion with others. Her shawl and accessory designs have appeared in Interweave Knits, Knitscene, Knitty and have also been featured on the KnitPicks website.
